International Roaming Facility.

International Roaming facility is available for Sri Lanka mobile phone owners, when they are traveling abroad. This International Roaming will allow you to make calls through your mobile phone from any part of the world, but the call cost will be high. The billing for the calls will be added in your home country mobile account. They can enable this roaming facility while they are in Sri Lanka. It can be done through their service provider or at the Carrier Office located at the Colombo airport. This facility will allow them to dial and receive calls from their phones while they are in another country. Also allow them to send and receive SMS messages to their relatives, friends and businesses. But the charge is high as the service is carried out by your service provider's Partner and with your service provider. You have to pay for your phone service provider and to their partner make this service to be an expensive one. Also if a new comer arrives at the airport SMS message will come from your carrier to your phone. It will ask whether you want to activate the roaming Facility or not. If you want the roaming, follow their instructions came through the SMS. You can activate the Roaming facility through any of the carrier agent. Likewise roming Mobile Data Plan and SMS servoces too are expensive.

Now a days nearly all the mobile phones used to go on roaming mode and wait for the owners confirmation, once they had crossed their country boarder.
It is the customer's choice to go on with the roaming or not.

If you have planned to travel to a foreign country, contact your mobile phone service provider's nearest office and ask them about their roaming tariff the country that you are going to visit (call charges and SMS charges). Roaming from some countries may give you heavy phone bill. Not only for the calls that you had made but you will be charged for the incoming calls too that you had attended.

If you are owner of a Smartphone with 3G or 4G LTE service option and if you are taking it with you to overseas, be careful if you are having roaming facility in it. Your Smartphone used to have setting to check for your emails every 15 minutes connecting through the internet. This action may provide you to run in to heavy mobile phone bill, when you reach home. The bill may be mostly for the internet connectivity charges and for the data plan you had used through the roaming partner.
