
Advice for Sri Lanka phone users used to come from TRC along with their phone carrier. When using Smartphone to login in to Facebook, WhatsApp or Twitter accounts don't upload fake video clips, deep fake videos, suspicious images, fake News, AI geerated fake content and unruly comments in your pages. With your phone's IMEI Number, you will be traced and get caught and can be prosecuted in any country. At least once a month optimize your Smartphone. (It must include phone's Battery, memory and storage). This will allow your Smartphone to work faster. In addition, this process will remove unwanted programs that are installed in the phone.
Don't borrow your phone to unknown people as they may call unwanted numbers or send message that can put in trouble with police.
Warning For Smartphone Users who access Bank Accounts.
If you use to access your bank account via your Smartphone never share your OTP codes with other people.
Never open video clips before asking the sender.
Don't click links coming in message before you confirm withn the sender.
What will happen if you click on the links, the unknown sender can control your Smartphone and can withdraw money from your account at his wish.
Any messages and video clips may contain bad scripts, even if they sent by your friends. These scripts can give control of your phone to the script sender.

Moreover, after28th of January 2025, phones that has not registered with the TRCSL of their IMEI number, will not be allowed to function in Sri Lanka properly.
So when you are buying a new phone take this IMEI registration in notice. (Some time the vendor may charge more money to register with the TRCSL organization.
Don't use your Social Media (Facebook, Instagram, Youtube, Twitter etc) pages to disgrace or to publish false information on other person. Violation can lead to be prosecuted under the current Sri Lanka Law. So check whether any other person is operating any fake page under your name. If you find any fake pages inform to the nearest Police and to the relevant Social Media page. During the Sri Lanka Presidential election period around 4 people were arrested by police for publishing defamation posts about a person in the social media. Never repost content, if you are not sure about it. Not all your friends are trustable ones.
In Sri Lanka,
- It is against the Law, to use a mobile phone without an IMEI number in Sri Lanka. (To check, dial *#06# to view your IMEI Number.)
- In addition it should be registered with the Sri Lanka TRC.
- SIM should be registered under the user's name with NIC number and address. To check dial #132# from the mobile phone to view the owner's details..
- In Sri Lanka a person is allowed to own ONLY 5 numbers of SIM cards from a carrier under her/his name.
- It is against the Law for you to use a SIM that was registered under another person's name.
- Don't use mobile phone while driving or walking as it is against the law.
- Do not take photos or videos in restricted areas and in front of (disrespecting) the Buddha statues. (Violation may lead to criminal prosecution).
- It is not allowed to take photos near to a running train.
- If the phone is lost or stolen report it to the nearest police station and get a copy of that complaint and report it to your carrier along with it and get your new SIM card. And then report it to online Sri Lanka lost phone service along with these documents.
- They will assist to recover the phone or will make it unusable. You can't contact TRC directly or lodge complaint about the loss of phone.
- Don't buy mobile phones from unknown people.
- The Sri Lanka CDMA phone connection is meant to be used in the registered address only.
- CDMA phone can't be used as a mobile phone as some people carrying it in their cars and vans. It is against the law.
- Reload Smartphone with call minutes and data plan separately. Using call minutes for data plan? It will be expensive than the data plan price.
- Beware of free Wi-Fi hotspots as they may plant tracking scripts in Smartphones, when you happened to connect to the internet through their Wi-Fi Hotspot.
- Always keep your phone's Bluetooth in "off" position as some people try to send scripts to control your phone. Switch it "on" whenever in need of the Bluetooth activity.
- If you are getting unwanted calls and/or SMS to your mobile phone, complain it to your carrier and to the local police.
- Using Smartphone's "Block Call" App can stop these annoying calls and SMS text messages.
- Doesn’t call back missed foreign calls. As it is a hoax and it can give you a large phone bill for the call you made.
- Try to reload (top up) with more than Rs 500/-, if you gave a wrong number, you can recover that money with the assistance of the re-load provider.
- If you are using a Smartphone, install "locate my phone app". This will help you to locate your phone, in case it is lost or missing.
- Don't call back foreign missed calls. As it is a hoax and it can give you a large phone bill for the call you made.
- When you have time, clean the cached data from your memory for to speed up your Smartphone.
- When your Smartphone is using your call money for data when your mobile Data is over, go to your carrier office and request them to stop that process.
- Buy good Power Bank or Solar charger to overcome the frequent power cut.
- Don't share discriminating photos and Videos in your Social Media platforms as it may land you with criminal charges.
- Never keep Smartphone in your tight pants. This action may dmage it.
- Don't use Smartphone while it it is on charging.
- If you are leaving Sri Lanka, don't provide your SIM card to another person as the law says it usage is meant for you only.
- Don't make fake QR codes for Fuel Pass.
Check Smartphone got bad scripts in it or someone is tracking you?
1. You may need to charge your phone frequently.
2. Data usage can be very high.
3. Smartphone is responding very slowly.

In the phone you can find Files with funny names.
5. In the sent messages you can see them with codes.
If you see suspect your phone is planted with some bad scripts? Then you will need to clean it manually.
Contact your service person and tell about your problems. He may solve it.
Don't scan unnecessary QR Codes as they can steal your personal information.
Don't access unknown website, Install
suspicious Apps or open unknown sender's files and videos. Through this method they can send bad Scripts.
